Lightning Display Legend

 

The lightning display map shows detected lightning in the North Georgia area centered from West Cobb County. Throughout this legend, the following abbreviations may be used:

1] CG : Cloud-to-ground discharges
2] IC : Intra/Inter cloud discharges
3] CID : Compact intercloud discharge

Each can have a "+" or a "-" which denotes the polarity of the discharge. The following are the icons used on the map, and their meaning/age:

Newest Discharges (60 seconds)

Newer Discharge (119 seconds)

New Discharge (120 seconds)

Old Discharge (300 seconds)

Older Discharge (600 seconds)

Oldest Discharge (3600 seconds)

 

The stroke rate history graph gives a summary of the last 1 hour. The colors on the graph correspond to:

1] -CG : Green
2] +CG : Light Blue
3] -IC : Light Purple
4] +IC : Blue
5] Other strikes : Red
